I always wanted to try using in-ear wireless headphones to see how they affected the immersion of my games, and the pair that always caught my eye were the Sony INZONE Buds. I game on PS5 so it felt like a no-brainer to go for these despite the price point.

But was that the best option? Well, after experiencing the world of Outer Wilds with them, I can say that they’ve become a staple for my single-player gaming adventures.

Should You Buy It?

If you’re looking for a less invasive gaming headset that will allow you to feel fully immersed in your games, then yes, absolutely. The INZONE Buds not only offer fantastic sound quality, but they also come with noise cancelation and are some of the comfiest earbuds on the market.

To test them out I played the entirety of Outer Wilds with them, which was incredible. The INZONE Buds really brought the noises of each world to life for me. At one point I got too immersed in the game which resulted in an Angler Fish almost making me fall out of my chair. The growls it made and the Dark Bramble’s eeriness made my skin crawl.

Outer Wilds is already an incredible experience, but I appreciate how much these earbuds elevated the sound. One of the more memorable moments for me was breaking through the Giant Deep’s atmosphere for the first time and colliding my ship into the large sea. The sound of my ship hitting the water was truly breathtaking and made the moment much better for me.

The price point may scare some people, but I can’t imagine better earbuds than these. They offer excellent sound quality, immerse you into the game due to the noise canceling feature, and are comfortable to wear for extensive gaming periods. They also match the aesthetic of the PS5 so it’s a nice addition for your setup. However, I only recommend them if you’re looking to play alone.

When I would wear them in a game chat with friends, a lot of them commented how my voice was noticeably different than with my usual headset. They didn’t say it was terrible or anything, but they did feel it a bit jarring when compared to my INZONE H9 headset.

Final Verdict

B+ – If you’re looking for earbuds to game with then I really can’t see why you’d look elsewhere, especially if you’re choice of platform is the PS5.

They are great for playing solo and immersing yourself in the game’s atmosphere, but your teammates may comment on the sound quality of your microphone when playing online. It could just be because of the difference that the AI DNN (Deep Neural Network algorithm) causes to your voice and the distance of the speaker compared with traditional headsets, but it’s something worth noting.

Overall, they are definitely worth it in my opinion, and I’ll likely use them for most of my single-player experiences from here on out just because the immersion they give really is something special.
